About

Syafira Auliya is a PhD researcher at Delft University of Technology and a member of the Cyber-Physical Intelligence Laboratory. Her research explores the ethical and societal implications of Artificial Intelligence (AI), particularly its applications in democratic processes, privacy, and public decision-making.

Her work investigates how AI technologies can be designed and governed to support societal values and democratic participation. A central focus of her research is the use of adversarial machine learning to address challenges arising from AI-driven political communication, including privacy risks, political micro-targeting, and the quality of democratic deliberation.

Combining perspectives from AI, ethics, and philosophy of technology, she examines both the opportunities and limitations of AI for social good. Her research considers how technical interventions interact with institutional, political, and societal contexts, highlighting the importance of responsible innovation and human-centred technology governance.

Her research contributions include studies on adversarial machine learning for deliberative decision-making in elections and the broader ethical complexities of deploying AI to support democratic processes.
